Larissa Johnson is a second-year law student at Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the Barrister’s Council trial advocacy team and a technology law and policy scholar. In addition to working for LCWINS, Larissa is a summer volunteer intern at the Office of Enforcement Operations within the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division. This fall, she will be an extern with the Air Force JAG Corps at the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
Larissa earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications at the University of South Carolina. She was inducted into the Campus Hall of Leaders and received the George Andrew Buchanan Award in Journalism. During her time at The Daily Gamecock, USC’s campus newspaper, Larissa served in positions from news editor to editor in chief. Larissa’s awards from the South Carolina Press Association include four individual first place awards for her reporting and five paper-wide first place awards during her management. She was also a multimedia journalist at the Carolina News and Reporter, where she conducted an investigation into high eviction rates throughout South Carolina. Her eviction series was a finalist for the Society of Professional Journalists collegiate in-depth reporting award.
